Mr. John Steinbuch
March 23, 1988
Page 3

Method of Site Identification:

Primary sources of information collection were internal staff or brokers,
about equally. Direct contact with owners of developments were strong
factors for four of the companies. Only one company indicated they had
used the Chamber of Commerce to obtain information.

Company Introduction to Pleasanton:'

Most of the companies were initially introduced to Pleasanton by their own
initiative. Four companies indicated they were introduced to Pleasanton
by brokers.

Method of Gatherinc.! Community Information:

Most companies chose to gather information either through real estate
brokers or through direct contact with park owners. The companies were
about equally divided between the above two choices. Only one company
mentioned using the City and Chamber of Commerce directly in gathering
information.

Primary Factors in Selection of Community:

Of the three most important reasons for selecting Pleasanton, the most
frequent was the cost and availability of space and/or land for present
needs and future growth. After that was mentioned, general quality of
life and transportation access. The next two most frequent responses
were geographic location within the Bay Area and the image of the
business parks. Other responses were over a wide range of
considerations.

Other Important Factors in Selection Process:

In answer to our question on factors that effected the relocation decision,
geographic ,location within the Bay Area was the number one response.
Closely following that was the ready access to transportation corridors.
Following that and each receiving equal weight was the potential for
growth within the area, the relative low cost of space for the Bay Area,
and forward community planning. The next most considered categories
were perceived availability ~f labor market and proximity to either clients
or suppliers.
