This assignment is voluntary. <br /> <br /> Signature <br /> <br />2.2 Maintenance of Membership <br /> <br /> All employees in classifications listed in Section 1.0, who are <br /> members of the Association, tendering periodic dues thirty (30) <br /> days after the City Council of the City of Pleasanton approved <br /> this Memorandum of Understanding and all employees, in the <br /> aforementioned unit who thereafter become members of the <br /> Association shall, as a condition of employment, pay dues to the <br /> Association for the duration of this Memorandum of Understanding, <br /> and each year thereafter. During a period of thirty (30) days <br /> prior to May 1, 1990 and thirty (30) days prior to any May <br /> thereafter, any employee who is a member of the Association <br /> the aforementioned classifications shall have the right tc <br /> withdraw from the Association and discontinue dues deduction as <br /> of the earnings period commencing April 1. Said withdrawal shall <br /> be communicated by the employee in writing to the Director of <br /> Finance. An employee who is subsequently employed in a position <br /> outside of the Unit represented by the Association shall not be <br /> required to pay dues to the Association. <br /> <br />2.3 Communication with Employee~ <br /> <br /> Any representative of the PCEA shall give notice to the <br /> Department Head when contacting City employees during the duty <br /> period of the employees, provided that solicitation for <br /> membership or other internal employee organization business shall <br /> be conducted only during the off-duty hours of all employees <br /> concerned. Prearrangements for routine contact may be made by <br /> agreement between the PCEA and the Department Head and when made <br /> shall continue until revoked. <br /> <br /> The PCEA may designate to the Personnel Officer, no more than two <br /> representatives to discuss the grievances with their members. <br /> The PCEA representatives shall be allowed reasonable time at the <br /> beginning or end of an employee's normal duty period to discuss <br /> the employee's grievance. This use of duty period time by either <br /> the PCEA representative or the employee shall not unduly affect <br /> either person's ability to complete their assigned duties. These <br /> time limitations shall not be in effect during the conduct of <br /> formal grievance hearings. <br /> <br /> - 5 - <br /> <br /> <br />
