Boardwalk Street. The landscaping in these medians are some of the oldest in the City,
and this years funding could complete renovation of approximately 10 of the 20
medians.
Funding in the amount of $15,000 is recommended for renovation of the brick barbeque
located at Amador Recreation Center. Due to its age, this unit is in need of immediate
repairs. Also proposed is $10,000 for repairs to the wood fencing at Fire Station #3,
and $25,000 for the replacement of the wood gazebo at Mission Hills Park. Structural
supports for both these items are in poor condition and warrant replacement.
Another $27,000 is needed to replenish the protective wood chip mulch for various City
playgrounds, keeping them compliant with the Handbook for Public Playground Safety
Standards. These chips slowly decompose and need annual replenishment. Finally,
$40,000 is proposed to begin design work on the playground structure replacements
scheduled in the next two (2) years. The four (4) play areas planned for replacement
are located in Valley Trails, Meadowlark, Amaral, and Tennis and Community parks.
At its July 12, 2007 meeting, the Parks and Recreation Commission reviewed the
proposed list of renovation projects and recommended approval by the Council.
Submitted by:
Ja es W.
