The design elements of the project as defined here- in will be assembled into two construction con- tract document packages for two separate bid periods; however, this does not preclude develop- ment of stage construction within each contract. If the work is to be divided into three or more construction contract packages and/or if more than two bidding periods are used, the associated re- quired work will be considered as extra. The CONSULTANT will be responsible for obtaining permits for the CITY to construct the project and perform necessary work in execution of this AMENDMENT. The CITY will provide timely assis- tance if requested by the CONSULTANT and pay all fees to acquire the permits. The CONSULTANT will closely coordinate work with the CITY's engineering staff or its designated representative. The work will conform to the standards of Caltrans and the CITY in effect on the date of final sub- mittal to Caltrans. Upon receipt of Caltrans de- sign directives the CONSULTANT shall determine within ten (10) working days the effect that such changes will have on completed and remaining work contained in this AMENDMENT and notify the CITY. If the CONSULTANT fails to notify the CITY within said period, any changes in cost associated with such directives shall be borne by the CONSULTANT. Changes, deletions and additions to these standard documents may be cause for extra work to meet the new requirements and/or may require changes in the scope of work and corresponding fee and schedule modification.
