structures, to prevent the erection of structures or <br />signs that would be inharmonious with their <br />surroundings; and to ensure that open spaces, parking <br />areas, pedestrian walks, and landscaping are arranged <br />to accomplish the objectives of this chapter, plans <br />for all new'uses and structures, except single-family <br />dwellings, and for all directly illuminated signs, <br />and all signs with a surface area of 24 square feet <br />or more, shall be subject to review by the Board of <br />Design Review, and all accessory structures which <br />exceed ten (10) feet in height, and additions to <br />single-family residences which exceed ten 10 feet <br />in height shall be subject to review by the Zoning <br />Administrator. The ugly, the inharmonious, the <br />monotonous, and the hazardous shall be barred, but <br />originality in site, planning, architecture, <br />landscaping, and graphic design shall not be <br />suppressed. Review shall include .exterior design, <br />materials, textures, colors, sign, colors, and means <br />of illumination, but shall not consider elements of <br />the design that are not visible beyond the boundaries <br />of the site." <br />Section 3. Section 2-10.G(c), Article 19, Chapter 2, Title II of <br />the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is <br />hereby amended to read: <br />"No addition to a single-family residence, or an <br />accessory structure, exceeding ten (10) feet in <br />height shall be constructed or erected until the site <br />plan and elevations, as required in Section <br />2-10.07 (a) and (d) have been approved by the Zoning <br />Administrator." <br />Section 4. Section 2-10.08(b) Article 19, Chapter 2, Title II <br />of the Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read: <br />"b. Action by Zoning Administrator on Certain <br />Accessory Structures and Additions to Single-family <br />Residences. <br />(1) The Zoning Administrator s17a11 check the site <br />plan and architectural drawings or sketches <br />showing building elevations for compliance with <br />the requirements of this chapter. <br />(2) If compliance with the requirements of this <br />chapter is found, the Zoning Administrator shall <br />send notice of the application to surrounding <br />property owners. The Zoning Administrator shall <br />determine the area within which property owners <br />are to be notified by mail. If within seven (7) <br />days of mailing said notice, the Zoning <br />Administrator receives a request for a hearing, <br />he shall schedule an administrative hearing <br />within seven (7) days. <br />- 2 - <br />
