CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AMENDMENTS TO CERTAIN SECTIONS OF TITLE II PERTAINING TO <br />DESIGN REVIEW OF ADDITIONS TO SINGLE-FAMILY HOUSES THAT <br />ARE GREATER THAN TEN (10) FEET IN HEIGHT. <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON does ordain as <br />follows: <br />Section 1. Section 2-5.39(a), (Yards and Courts Related to <br />Height of a Structure) of Article 3 (Site, Yard, <br />Bulk, Usable Open Space and Screening and Landscaping <br />Regulations), Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance <br />Code of the City of Pleasanton is hereby amended to <br />read as follows: <br />"In an R-1 District, at the time of initial <br />construction, main structures exceeding 15 feet in <br />height shall be separated by a distance of at least <br />20 feet; provided, however, portions of two <br />structures, only one of which is in excess of 15 feet <br />in height, shall be separated by at least .17 feet. <br />Additions to the main structure may be constructed <br />with the same setback as the existing first floor <br />setback, provided that the addition does not encroach <br />any farther into the setback than does the existing <br />main structure. All additions to the main structure <br />which exceed ten 10 feet in height shall be subject <br />to design review pursuant to Section 2-10.04 of this <br />chapter. Accessory structures exceeding 15 feet in <br />height shall be separated by a distance of at least <br />20 feet from any structure greater than 15 feet in <br />height; accessory structures exceeding 15 feet in <br />height shall be separated by a distance of at lest 17 <br />feet from any structure less than 15 feet in height." <br />Section 2. Section 2-10.04, Article 19, Chapter 2 of Title II of <br />the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br />Section 2-10.04 Purposes and Authorization. In order <br />to preserve the natural beauty of the City's site, to <br />prevent indiscriminate clearing of property and the <br />destruction of trees and shrubs, to prevent excessive <br />grading of hillsides and creation of drainage <br />hazards; to ensure that structures are properly <br />related to their sites and to surrounding sites and <br />- 1 - <br />
