6.40.220 <br />B. Authority Of The Police Depart- <br />ment To Inspect Taxicabs: The Chief of <br />Police shall have the right, at any time <br />after displaying proper identification, to <br />enter into or upon any taxicab for the <br />purpose of ascertaining whether or not <br />any provisions set forth in this Chapter <br />are being violated. A copy of the cur- <br />rent Bureau of Weights and Measures <br />certificate certifying the taximeter and a <br />copy of the current insurance policy <br />shall be carried in the vehicle at all <br />times and shall be presented upon de- <br />mand. <br />C. Unsafe Or Unsuitable Taxicab: <br />Any taxicab which is found, in the <br />opinion of the Chief of Police, to be <br />unsafe or in any way unsuitable for <br />taxicab service shall immediately be <br />ordered out of service. The owner shall <br />have the appropriate repairs made and <br />pass a subsequent inspection by the <br />Chief of Police. The owner shall pay an <br />inspection fee as set forth in the Master <br />Fee Scheduler to the City prior to being <br />placed back into service. <br />D. Unsafe Or Unsuitable Taxicab <br />Conditions: Existence of the following <br />conditions shall be deemed to make a <br />taxicab unsafe or unsuitable for taxicab <br />service: <br />1. Leakage: Excessive leakage of oil, <br />grease, gas or any other substance from <br />any part of the taxicab. <br />2. Defects In Frame: The existence <br />of any defects in the frame of the taxi- <br />cab. <br />3. Failure To Function: The failure <br />of any moveable parts of the car affect- <br />ing public safety, including doors, <br />windows, hoods, trunk, lights, etc., to <br />function in the proper working order. <br />4. Unsafe Operating Condition Of <br />Tires, Brakes, Etc.: Failure to maintain <br />the tires, lights, turning signals or <br />brakes in good and safe operating con- <br />dition. <br />5. Failure To Maintain Motor And <br />Mechanical Parts: Failure to maintain <br />the motor and other mechanical parts of <br />the car in good and safe operating <br />condition. <br />6. Inadequate Exhaust System: Fail- <br />ure to have an adequate exhaust system <br />that complies with State law properly <br />installed and in good working condi- <br />tion. <br />7. Improper Maintenance Of Exterior <br />Paint: Improper maintenance of the <br />exterior paint, in the proper color <br />scheme. <br />8. Inadequate Interior Lighting: Fail- <br />ure to have adequate interior lighting in <br />proper working condition. <br />9. Failure To Clean The Interior: The <br />interior of every taxicab shall be thor- <br />oughly cleaned at least once in every <br />twenty four (24) hours. <br />10. Failure To Clean The Exterior: <br />The exterior of every taxicab shall be <br />thoroughly cleaned at least once every <br />seven (7) days. <br />ll.Other Conditions: Any other <br />condition which would reasonably <br />deem the vehicle unsuitable for service. <br />(Ord. 1744 § 1, 1998) <br />6.40.230 Manifests: <br />A. The driver of every taxicab shall <br />keep a separate manifest of every ser- <br />vice rendered and shall include the <br />following information: <br />1.
