15.08.500 <br />15.08.500 Sewer: <br />"Sewer" means a pipe or conduit for <br />carrying sewage. (Ord. 1082 § 2, 1983; <br />Prior Code § 2-15.01.47) <br />15.08.510 Sewerage System: <br />"Sewerage system" means all sewers <br />and facilities operated for carrying, col- <br />lecting, pumping, treating and disposing <br />of sewage. (Ord. 1082 § 2, 1983; Prior <br />Code § 2-15.01.48) <br />15.08.520 Shall, May: <br />The term "shall" is mandatory; the <br />term "may" is permissive. (Ord. 1082 § 2, <br />1983; Prior Code § 2-15.01.49) <br />15.08.530 Side Sewer: <br />"Side sewer" means a pipe connecting <br />to a service lateral from a house or other <br />structure. (Ord. 1082 § 2, 1983; Prior <br />Code § 2-15.01.50) <br />15.08.540 Single-Family Dwelling <br />Unit: <br />"Single-family dwelling unit" means a <br />detached dwelling unit on a single lot <br />with no common wall. (Ord. 1895 § 1, <br />2003; Ord. 1203 § 1, 1985; Ord. 1082 <br />§ 2, 1983; Prior Code § 2-15.01.51) <br />15.08.550 Standard Methods Of <br />Testing: <br />"Standard methods of testing" means <br />the measurements, tests and analyses of <br />the characteristics of water and wastes as <br />determined in accordance with the most <br />recent edition of the "Standard Methods <br />For The Examination Of Water And <br />Waste Water", published jointly by the <br />American Public Health Association, the <br />American Water Works Association and <br />the Water Pollution Control Federation. If <br />such testing standards are not provided in <br />the standard methods, the procedures <br />contained in title 40, code of federal <br />regulations, part 136, as amended, shall <br />apply. In the event specific value limits <br />have been established, such values shall <br />be determined from twenty four (24) hour <br />composite samples that are representative <br />of the waste. However, if intermittent dis- <br />charges are made that are not represen- <br />tative of the twenty four (24) hour dis- <br />charge, sampling requirements shall be <br />determined on a case by case basis. (Ord. <br />1082 § 2, 1983; Prior Code § 2-15.01.52) <br />15.08.560 State: <br />"State" means the state of California. <br />(Ord. 1082 § 2, 1983; Prior Code <br />§ 2-15.01.53) <br />15.08.570 Storm Drains: <br />"Storm drains" means those pipes, <br />canals and conduits provided to carry <br />storm and surface waters and unpolluted <br />wastewater.
