Fire-Extinguishing system <br />1.2 UBC Standard 9-3 -amended <br />to reference NFPA 13D-1999 Ed. <br />Installation of Sprinkler Systems in <br />Residential Occupancies. <br />UBC Section 902 amended - Stan- <br />dards of Ouality <br />Section 902 1. Fire-Extinauishin~ <br />System <br />Section 902 1.-1.2 is amended to <br />read: <br />UBC Standard 9-3 is amended to <br />adopt National Fire Protection Asso- <br />ciation (NFPA) 13D-1999 Edition. <br />This Standard includes installation of <br />fire sprinkler systems in buildings up <br />to fifteen (15) units and up to a <br />maximum of twelve thousand <br />(12,000) square feet maximum. <br />Chapter 1-General Information <br />amended - <br />Section 1-1 Scope is amended to <br />read: <br />This standard describes the require- <br />ments for the mechanical and perfor- <br />mance properties of the sprinkler <br />itself. It also describes the require- <br />ments for the installation of the <br />complete sprinkler system for resi- <br />dential occupancies up to fifteen (15) <br />units or twelve thousand square feet <br />(12,000) maximum. <br />Chapter 1-General Information - <br />amended ' <br />Section 1-5.4 is amended to read: <br />Section 1-5.4 All systems shall be <br />tested for leakage at 200 psi for two <br />(2) hours. <br />Chapter 1-General Information - <br />added <br />Section 1-5.6 is added to read: <br />Section 1-5.6 All sprinkler piping <br />shall be either non-ferrous metallic <br />pipe (copper, or brass) or CPVC. All <br />piping above the flow switch should <br />be protected by sheet rock or ply- <br />wood. Note: No ferrous (black iron, <br />iron or galvanized) pipe is permitted. <br />Fire sprinkler riser check valves shall <br />be approved by the City and Fire <br />Prevention Bureau. <br />CHAPTER 3-System Components - <br />amended <br />Section 3-1.1 Valves and Drains is <br />amended: <br />Section 3-1.1 Exception No. 1 (a) <br />amended to read: <br />(a) To a Underwriters Laboratory <br />(UL) listed Central Station Service. <br />Delete (b) and (c). <br />(Pleasanton April 2003) ']0,4_2 <br />
