20.08.030 <br />3. The spark arrestor required by this <br />section shall be substantially con- <br />structed and have a screen area of <br />the chimney it serves. Openings shall <br />not permit the passage of spheres <br />having a diameter of larger than one- <br />half (1/2) inch nor block the passage <br />of spheres having a diameter of less <br />than three-eighths (3/8) inch. Spark <br />arresters shall be adequately support- <br />ed and secured. <br />(Ord. 1869 § 2, 2002; Ord. 1778 § 2, <br />1998; Ord. 1669 § 2, 1995) <br />20.08.032 UBC Section 904.3.1, <br />Amended -Where <br />Required: <br />Section 904.3.1 of the California <br />Building Standards Code 2001 Edition, <br />(24 CCR), and including by reference <br />the Uniform Building Code is amended <br />to read as follows: <br />Section 1003.3.1 Where required. All <br />valves controlling the water supply <br />for automatic sprinkler systems and <br />water-flow switches on all sprinkler <br />systems shall be electrically moni- <br />tored as follows: <br />1. All fire protection and fire alarm <br />systems shall be supervised to an <br />Underwriters Laboratory (UL) Cen- <br />tral Station Service. Valve monitor- <br />ing, water-flow alarm(s), FM 200 <br />system(s), and trouble signal(s) etc. <br />shall be distinctly different and shall <br />be automatically transmitted to an <br />approved Underwriters Laboratory <br />(UL) Central Station Service as spec- <br />ified in NFPA 72-1999 Edition. <br />2. All Fire alarm system(s) alarm <br />initiation and signaling shall comply <br />with the provisions in Pleasanton <br />Municipal Code Section 20.24.150. <br />Valve monitoring and water-flow <br />alarm and trouble signals shall be <br />distinctly different and shall be auto- <br />matically transmitted to an approved <br />Underwriters Laboratory Central Sta- <br />tion Service, as defined by national <br />standards, or, when approved by the <br />building official with the concur- <br />rence of the chief of the fire depart- <br />ment, sound an audible signal at a <br />constantly attended location. <br />(Ord. 1869 § 2, 2002; Ord. 1806 § 2, <br />2000) <br />20.08.034 UBC Section 2320.11.3, <br />Amended -Bracing: <br />Section 2320.11.3 of the California <br />Building Standards Code 2001 Edition, <br />(24 CCR), and including by reference <br />the Uniform Building Code is amended <br />to read as follows: <br />1. Braced wall lines shall consist of <br />braced wall panels, which meet the <br />requirements for location, type and <br />amount of bracing specified in Table <br />23-1V-C-1 and are in line or offset <br />from each other by not more than 4 <br />feet (1219 mm). <br />2. Braced wall panels shall start at <br />not more than 8 feet (2438 mm) from <br />each end of a braced wall line. <br />3.
