20.08.026 Part I-ALLOWABLE STRESS DE- SIGN OF WOOD This standard, with certain excep- tions, is the ANSI/NFoPA NDS-97 National Design Specification for Wood Construction of the American Forest and Paper Association, 1997 Edition, and the Supplement to the 1997 Edition, National Design Speci- fication, adopted by reference. The National Design Specification for Wood Construction, 1997 Edi- tion, and supplement are available from the American Forest and Paper Association, 1111 19th Street, NW, Eighth Floor, Washington, DC, 20036. (Ord. 1869 § 2, 2002) 20.08.027 Section 2316.1 -Amended - Adoption And Scope: Section 2316.1 of the California Building Standards Code 2001 Edition (24 CCR), and including by reference the Uniform Building Code, is amended to read as follows: 2316.1 Adoption and Scope. The National Design Specification for Wood Construction, 1997 Edition (NDS), which is hereby adopted as a part of this code, shall apply to the design and construction of wood structures using visually graded lumber, mechanically graded lumber, structural glued laminated timber, and timber piles. National Design Specification Appendix Section F, Design for Creep and Critical De- flection Applications, Appendix Section G, Effective Column Length, and Appendix Section J, Solution of Hankinson Formula are specifically adopted and made a part of this stan- dard. The Supplement to the 1997 Edition National Design Specifica- tion is specifically adopted and made a part of this standard. Other codes, standards or specifica- tions referred to in this standard are to be considered as only an indica- tion of an acceptable method or material that can be used with the approval of the building official, except where such other codes, stan- dards or specifications are specifical- ly adopted by this code as primary standards. (Ord. 1869 § 2, 2002) 20.08.028 Section 2316.2 Item 1, Section 1.1 -Amended - Amendments: Section 2316.2 of the California Building Standards Code 2001 Edition (24 CCR), and including by reference the Uniform Building Code, is amended to read as follows: 2316.2. Amendments. 1. Sec. 1.1. Delete and substitute the following: The design of structures using visu- ally graded lumber, mechanically graded lumber, structural glued lami- nated timber, timber piles, and de- sign of their connections shall be determined in accordance with these test procedures and shall be multi- plied by all applicable adjustment factors (see Table 7.3.1) to obtain allowable design values.
