MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
Leealization of Second-Story Additions
Commissioner Blank was curious about the second-story addition that was not recorded
by the City and inquired about the process to legalize this addition.
Ms. Decker believed the addition in that particulaz neighborhood was permitted and
processed correctly in both the Planning Department and Building and Safety Division.
Staff has found that as projects get azchived, older files aze destroyed on laserfiched.
Paper copies aze difficult to reseazch as they get that old, and much older fiches are
destroyed.
Commission Priorities
Ms. Decker noted that there had been discussion about the Commission's priorities and
there was a suggestion to take time on the agenda to do a priorities workshop. Concerns
would be evaluated, and a list would be forwazded to the City Council regazding the
Commission's priorities for the City.
Chairperson Arkin did not like the idea of going to City Council before deciding on
priorities within the Commission. He wanted to have the City Council obligate a certain
amount of staff time that could be used at will on special projects determined by the
Planning Commission. He would like the Commission to have some flexibility to
determine its own priorities.
A lengthy discussion of the levels of requests ensued.
Chairperson Arkin requested staff to pursue this suggestion offline and present a response
to the Commission.
Consent Calendar
Chairperson Arkin would like to use a Consent Calendaz as an experiment.

PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES Mazch 29, 2006 Page 23 of 25
