~.-, Commissioner Fox expressed concern about the issue of school enrollment projections <br />and believed that the District should include that information in its strategic plan. She did <br />not believe that was an appropriate entry for this document. She would like the entire <br />paragraph to be stricken from the document. <br />Commissioner Roberts agreed and noted that the demographics changed every year. <br />Commissioner Maas noted that private schools were named and did not believe that was <br />appropriate because they were businesses. <br />Ms. Stern noted that the inclusion of the school district projections were to gather <br />information and discover what issues would need to be dealt with over the General Plan <br />horizon. <br />Commissioner Roberts believed the Housing Element included that information. <br />Ms. Stern noted that the schools were public facilities. <br />Commissioner Fox believed the enrollment information could ultimately be a disservice <br />to the City. <br />The Commissioners concurred that the School District language should be deleted. <br />~ The Commission generally agreed that private facilities should not be specifically named <br />and that public facilities should be named. <br />Page VI-18 <br />Commissioner Blank would like to see language to encourage the Library to provide <br />WiFi service within the bounds of the library facility. He noted that it should also <br />maintain Internet access via terminals for customers not equipped with WiFi. <br />In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Roberts regarding whether the need for <br />approximately 72,800 squaze feet of space was in addition to the existing space, <br />Ms. Stern replied that was the total amount of squaze feet. <br />Commissioner Fox inquired whether there should be a heading for Childcare Facilities <br />within the document. Chairperson Arkin agreed it would be a good idea to address that <br />significant issue in the community. <br />Commissioner Fox would like to add some demographic information that pertained to <br />childcaze. <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES February 22, 2006 Page 16 of 21 <br />
