Commissioner Pentin expressed concerns regarding the suggested location for truck deliveries to the
proposed Sharks facility. Mr. Wolfe advised the Commission that it could recommend within the motion
that an alternate location be found.
Commissioner Kummer confirmed with staff that three (3) of the five (5) acres the City is considering
purchasing would be used as a water detention basin, leaving only two (2) additional acres for possible
other uses.
Vice-Chairperson Kummer opened the meeting for public comment at 8:00 p.m.
Nandor Krause, 3495 Dennis Drive -discussed the need for additional sports fields and encouraged the
Commission to recommend that the design for the park include two (2) all-weather, lighted sports fields.
Mr. Krause suggested that the City Council consider pursuing funding assistance for the park from the
Sharks organization.
Steve Dukleth, President of PONY Baseball, 4039 Dorman Road - expressed a desire for the City Council
and Parks and Recreation Commission to become more in touch with what is happening regarding
baseball within the City. Mr. Dukleth raised the
fact that the City has no dedicated fields for baseball, either for games or practice, and that PONY
Baseball, with 35 teams, can only practice on two (2) fields.
