Pat Kernan, representing the Sharks, advised <br />that this design review process had been requested by City Council. <br />Mr. Wolfe provided the Commission with: 1) copies of a letter addressed to Steve Bocian, Assistant City <br />Manager, from Pleasanton Unified School District Superintendent John Casey, indicating the District's <br />support for the proposed Sharks' ice rink facility; 2) comments on the City's efforts to possibly purchase <br />an additional 5-acres on the site, 3-acres of which would be used for water detention purposes; 3) <br />information regarding the actual placement of park elements, which would be determined during the <br />Master Planning phase; 4) details of the Option B configuration that allows only a single lighted baseball <br />field; and 5) details regarding the inclusion of bocce courts in both schematic options. <br />Chairperson Ellgas indicated she was encouraged by the two (2) alternatives, but had questions regarding <br />the number of tennis courts, restroom locations, and possible connecting of parking lots. She was advised <br />by Ms. Keller that both designs included six (6) tennis courts, and there were no constraints on restroom <br />locations. Mr. Wolfe and Mr. Fulford provided details regarding parking, and advised that the proposed <br />parking ratios far exceed what is required. <br />Commissioner Dibiase was advised by Mr. Fulford that the proposed dog exercise area in both designs is <br />considerably larger than the current Muirwood park facilities. <br />Commissioner Kummer asked if it was possible for the Commission to add or delete amenities to the <br />proposed list. Mr. Wolfe indicated it could, but advised that staff was hoping a final recommendation <br />could be made by the Commission at its April 12, 2007 meeting, and then forwarded to the City Council. <br />Chairperson Ellgas opened the meeting for public comment at 7:38 p.m. <br />Leonard Cooper, 6923 Lassen Street -was happy to see the inclusion of tennis courts in both alternative <br />designs, and expressed appreciation for the efforts of staff and the Commission to construct more courts. <br />Dr. Bigman, Hallie & Sandy Bigman, 2024 Sorrelwood Court, San Ramon, and several , <br />r_presentatives - Dr. Bigman encouraged the Commission to recommend inclusion of the Sharks facility <br />in the proposed park, and felt that having such a facility would be beneficial to children in the area and <br />residents of Pleasanton. The children in the group agreed that the ice skating facility would be great. <br />Dan Faustina, 1405 Calle Enrique -complimented staff and project consultants on the design alternatives, <br />and was pleased to see that football fields were included. He supported inclusion of the ice skating facility <br />and liked the idea of making this a sports complex, but was anxious to get additional fields for football. <br />Information about amulti-use sports facility being built in Livermore by Shea Homes was discussed, <br />along with information regarding a dog park in Dublin. <br />John Sensiba, 1864 Tanglewood Wax -advised that he was the Chairperson of the Pleasanton Chamber of <br />Commerce, and indicated that the Sharks facility would be a great asset for Pleasanton. <br />Steve Deukleth, 4039 Dorman Road -advised that as the representative for Pony Baseball, he wanted to <br />thank the Commission for its efforts on the design elements for the park.
