Commissioner Kinzer agreed with Commissioner Dibiases' comments, and supported including the Sharks <br />facility. He also had questions about trails, and Mr. Wolfe suggested that the park paths might also serve <br />as trails. <br />Chairperson Ellgas wanted to make sure that nature areas and vista points were included in the <br />recommendations, along with trails. She was in support of exploring the Sharks proposal; 4-6 tennis <br />courts; dog exercise area; and all-weather fields. <br />The Commission discussed proposed access to the Sharks facility from I-580/El Charro Road, and were <br />advised that no direct vehicular access to the ice facility from Stoneridge Drive was being proposed. <br />Commissioner Kummer expressed concerns with traffic circulation, and the need for a Stoneridge Drive <br />resolution. <br />Commissioner Kummer's recommendations for the park included: 2-3 acres of open space; Sharks <br />facility; four (4) lighted tennis courts, with room to expand; inclusion of additional sports fields in the 40- <br />acre community park proposed in the quarry area; a dog exercise area; trail connections; green belt buffer; <br />and restroom. <br />Commissioner Pentin advised that he supported the Sharks facility; a dog exercise area; two (2) lighted, <br />all-weather fields for soccer/football/lacrosse; four (4) lighted tennis courts; open space; trail staging area <br />with restroom; tot lot; and pursuing the purchase of an additional 5-acres for the park. <br />Mr. Wolfe and Mr. Rasmussen confirmed that the following items were the Commission's recommended <br />amenities for inclusion in the proposed Staples Ranch Community Park: 1) Open Space; 2) Sharks <br />Facility; 3) four (4) lighted tennis courts with room for two (2) additional courts; 4) dog exercise area <br />(small and large); 5) trail/trail connections/staging area; 6) two (2) lighted, all-weather <br />soccer/football/lacrosse fields; and 7) restroom/tot-lot area. <br />Mr. Wolfe advised that staff would evaluate all of the recommendations to determine if they would fit and <br />be compatible on the site. <br />The Commission agreed that the next Workshop should be held on Thursday, Apri15, 2007, with the <br />regular Commission meeting to be held on Thursday, April 12, 2007. <br />Commissioner Kinzer questioned whether staff would be including any baseball fields in its plans for the <br />community park. He was advised that was not the case. <br />3.
