These changes take into consideration the <br />critical speed, accident data and any unusual conditions on the roadway segment. <br />Staff is recommending the additional 5 mph reduction to the posted limit. This segment <br />of roadway transitions between the higher density housing to the west and the lower <br />density/open space to the east of this segment. This segment also transitions between <br />the 40 mph segment of Vineyard Avenue to the west and the 50 mph segment to the <br />east. In addition to the transitional nature of the roadway, six intersections exist along <br />the segment that are only controlled on the side streets. These intersections have <br />limited, but adequate, sight distance.
