Presentation by Alameda County on the amending of the State Master Plan for
Scenic Hixhwavs to include Routes X580 and ~~680
Mr. William Fraley, Planning Director of the Alameda County Planning Department,
presented this report as well. He mentioned that one of the first steps to be
taken would be to have these routes adopted on the General Plan. He referred
to the "corridor" type of method of landscaping, feeling that it should be a
recommandati~on to the City Council. Planning Director Castro inquired what this
action would do to the existing freeways. Mr. Fraley replied that ultimately
it would mean posting sigma stating that 4k580 and ~~680 are Scenic Highways,
but that he did not look for this in the immediate future. After the "corridor"
studies are completed, local jurisdictions will have to develop regulations for
land use, density of developments, etc.
Two individuals in the audience concurred wholeheartedly with the including
of Interstates ~k580 and X680 in the State Master Plan for Scenic Highways.
These two individuals were:
Mr. Bob Taylor and Mrs. Margaret Tracy,
both of Livermore.
Upon motion of Commissioner Garrigan, seconded by Cosmmiseioner Arnold, and
carried, the Public Hearing was closed.
Upon motion of Commiasd.cner Garrigan, seconded by Commissioner Arnold, and
carried, the following resolution was unanimously adopted.
- 4 -
