Referral from Alameda County Planning Co®isaion regarding Utah Construction
and Mining Company's modification of its application to permit a quarry site
on Aooerson Ridge.
At the request of the Planning staff, Mr. William Fraley, Planning Director
of Alameda County Planning Commission, presented a brief synopsis of the facts
surrounding the application of Utah Construction and Mining Company. Mr. Fraley
demonstrated a plan on the board showing the location of the proposed quarry.
Approximately 600 acres are being proposed. The site is at an elevation
between 1400 ft, and 1800 ft. Approximately 100,000,000 yards of premium
aggregate is to be quarried, over a period of 30 years. They plan to do this
in three stages. The first stage will span approximately 14 years, the
second span from the 15th to the 22nd gear, and the third span from the 23rd
to the 30th years.
They propose to process the material on site. Details will probably change
as they perfect the process but they will use a temporary or portable type
plant for the first few years and then will construct a permanent structure
to be located in the westerly area at the marshalling point for the access
road.
-4-
