Builders, Inc., for a
time extension on Tentative Tract Map #3004,
Valley Trails, has come before this Commission,
MOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Ca®iasion of
the City of Pleasanton hereby recommnnde to
City Council the approval of said time extension
for Tentative Tract Map #3004, Valley Trails, to
expire on March 13, 1970.
b. Request of D. & V. Builders. Inc., for clarification of Article 17, Sec.17.108(d)
The Planning Director advised the Commission that he had ao additional comments
to offer aside from the report. He feels the ordinance is very clear as to
its intent, sad that he still is of the opinion that the prime responsibility
for notifying prospective residents of multiple development in any given area
still lice with the developer.
Regarding the size of the sign, the Planning Director felt that the 3 X 4 sign is
very adequate.
Mr. Jim Ghielmetti, who initiated the clarification of this article, spoke in
defense of his interpretation, stating that it is a point of information for
what is being built in this area. He feels that a sign of this tgpe would
be extremely helpful to notify people who may just be driving through the area.
Commissioner Gibbs agreed that there was a certain amount of validity in
Mr. Ghielmetti's request for clarification. Perhaps some sort of attractive
signing in a uniform design could be devised for this particular need.
Vice Chairman Pons felt that the moat informative means is the large panorama
map in the sales office, but also felt that perhaps actual signing on a given lot
would be helpful. Commissioner Antonini concurred with this thought. Vice
Chairman Pons thought that perhaps a color coordinated sign blending with the
remainder of a developer's signing program would be a good means of handling
this situation.
A 3 ft. R 4 ft. sign would be adequate for this purpose. The City Attorney
stated that an amendment to the Zoning Ordinance would need to be processed.
Upon motion of Commissioner Gibbs, seconded by Commissioner Antonini, and carried,
the following resolution was adopted unanimously.
RESOLUTION N0. 931
WHEREAS, the resolution of intent to amend Article 17,
Sec. 17.108 (d) of Zoning Ordinance No. 520,
has come before this Commission,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Conaaission of
the City of Pleasanton hereby instructs the
City Attorney to draft an amendment to Sec.17.108(d)
with the stipulation that only one sign on each
block be permitted.
12. REFERRALS FRQ~i RECREATION ALID PARR COlIl~lISSION
a. Request of the Parks and Recreation Commission to rename Foothill Road
"E1 Camino Vieio" as oar information attached.
There was considerable discussion on this matter between the Commissioners and
the City staff regarding possible variations and perhaps a method to accomplish
this end.
- 8 -
