Mr. John Corley, representing Humble Oil, spoke a few words in favor of the
conditional use permit.
Upon motion of Commissioner Pereira, seconded by Chairman Garrigan, and carried,
the Yublic Hearing was closed.
Basically, the Commissioners expressed concern regarding the possibility of
too many service stations in the City and in particular, on Hopyard Road. There
was discussion regarding the Willow West development and the General Plan. It
was concluded that the cluster design for stations may be preferable to stringing
them out.
Commissioner Pons stated, however, that if Humble Oil is approved at this meeting,
then he wished to go on record in recommending that the Willow West development
be restricted to two service stations only. Also, it was the feeling of the
Commission that no more service stations be approved along Hopyard Road.
Upon motion of Commissioner Pereira, seconded by Commissioner Pons, the Public
Hearing was closed on UP-69-15.
Upon motion of Commissioner Pereira, seconded by Commissioner Pons, the following
resolution was adopted unanimously.
RESOLUTION N0. 939
WHEREAS, the application of Humble Oil and Refining
Company to allow the erection of an automotive
service station on that property described
as the southwest quadrant of Interstate X580
and Hopyard Road containing 1.0 acres, more
or leas, in an I-G (General Industry) District,
has come before this Commission,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that approval of UP-69-15 is hereby
given subject to the following conditions:
1. That approval of said service station
building and related amenities shall be subject
to the review and approval of the Design Review
Board of the City of Pleasanton.
Regarding conclusions drawn from the Service Station Studv under Item 13a, taken
in conjunction with the above application, upon motion of Chairman Garrigan,
seconded by Commissioner Pereira, it was moved as a matter of policy that the
Commission will, in the future, take a very careful look and closely scrutinize
all future service station applications in regard to service needs, traffic
patterns, etc., as suggested in the service station report.
b. RZ-69-12, Corley & Schwab
Application to rezone from the R-1-6500 (Single Family) District to the 0(Office)
District that property commonly known as 1056 Division Street. (Public Hearing
continued from July 23, 1969)
and
13b. Office Study
Chairman Garrigan opened the Public Hearing. Exhibits were demonstrated by the.
Planning Director showing the Office Districts within the City of Pleasanton,
also its proposed uses as envisioned by the General Plan.
- 2 -
