Mr. Brondolo and Mr. Struthers then returned to the meeting with the
letter composed by Mr. Brondolo, and the Commission resumed the hearing on
Mr. Brondolo's application. Secretary Fales read the letter to the Commis-
sion, as follows:
"Dear Sir:
In connection with my appllcation for a Variance to your Zoning
Ordinance X309, for a fruit stand in Annex #19, on my property
on the west side of Sunol Road, I do hereby agree as follows:
I consent to a grant of a two year variance, in
consideration of the Planning Commission, not
inquiring into whether or not my existing building
is legal under Alameda County zoning and building
ordinances.
I understand that at the end of two years, I must either obtain
a new variance or remove said building, according to the zoning
and building ordinances of Pleasanton then in effect.
Sincerely,
~s~ EMII,IO BROI~IDOLO"
On motion of Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Tendon,
and unanimously approve, Mr. Brondolo's application for a Variance was
accepted for review in two years.
The next item on the agenda was a.referral from the Alameda County
Planning Department for a proposed Elk's Lodge on Stanley Blvd. Mr. Falea gave
the staff report, stating that the land in which the Elk's is interested is in
the area of a big pit left by the Kaiser operation, and this would constitute
a possible means of reclamation. It is also near a recreation facility end,
though it is gust over the edge of a planned industrial area, it would seem to
be the kind of land use which would ten to show the City's versatility and
still remain compatible with the General Plan. Mr. Moore, representing the
Elk's, spoke from the audience on behalf of the group and stated that they feel
this is a particularly good location for them and suggested it might serve as
a kind of "buffer strip" between residential, commercial and industrial develop-
went in the City.
Chairman Mitchell invited members of the audience, who wished, to give
their opinion, however, no one spoke. On motion of Commissioner Landon,
seconded by Commissioner Antonini, and unanimously approved, the Commission
authorized the City Administrator to write to the County Planning Department
stating that the Commission feels this land should be developed either by light
industry or recreational facilities, a::d that the Elk's Lodge is good land use,
in their opinion. In addition, the Commission feels it is compatible with the
ad,~oining area.
