The next item on the agenda was consideration of the Central Business <br />District, Civic Center portions of the General Plan. A discussion of this <br />particular item followed and it was decided that the Commission should recom- <br />mend to the City Council, by way of a resolution, that an outside consultant <br />be brought in to make a study of Pleasanton in terms of the size of commercial <br />development to be considered in terms of space, business and services which <br />would compliment each other, parking areas, location of civic center, etc. <br />On motion of Chairman Mitchell, seconded by Commissioner Landon, the follow- <br />ing resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />WHEREAS, it is the considered opinion of this Commission that <br />the City of Pleasanton undertake the study by a pro- <br />fessional city and regional planner for the development of the <br />downtown area, Civic Center in relation to the Expanded General <br />Plan with emphasis on a marketing study; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE TT <br />RESOLVED, that this Commission does hereby recommend to the City <br />Council that an outside professional city and regional <br />planner be consulted to undertake the study of the downtown area, <br />Civic Center in the City of Pleasanton. <br />The Omission then set the date of April ll, 1962 at 8:00 P.M. for <br />a study session on Recreation and Parks Development, Land Acquisition Program. <br />There were no communications. <br />Under matters for the information of the Commission, Mr. Fales presented <br />plans from Stanley Builders, who own a parcel of property on the corner of <br />First and Main Streets in a C-G Zone for a Milk Depot and Creamery, which is a <br />permitted use under the Zoning Ordinance. Mr. Fales showed the plans and stated <br />that the Commission has the option of having a public hearing, but it is not <br />necessary since this is a conforming use. There was some discussion regarding <br />the landscaping and, on motion of Commissioner Landon, seconded by Commissioner <br />Antonini, and unanimously approved, it was decided that the owners be advised <br />that they will be required to put in landscaping on all land not used where it <br />will not create an obstruction or interfere with parking facilities. <br />Secretary Falea then read a portion of the League oP California Cities <br />Bulletin regarding the 50,000,000 Federal Grants for open space land, and the <br />Commission requested that Mr. Fales write for further informationibr a future <br />study session. <br />There being no further business, on motion of Chairman Mitchell, seconded <br />by Conm~issioner Landon, and unanimously approved, the meeting was adjourned at <br />9:45 P.M. to meet again at 8:00 P.M. on A it 5, 1962. ~~~ <br />V °1 ' <br />t~ Secretary ~ <br />
