of zoning designations to newly annexed areas have been complied
with by application of the City Planning Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED, that the City Planning Commission hereby recommends to the City
Council that Ordinance No. 309 be amended to provide the fo1-
lowing zoning to the areas involved:
1, Western Pacific Railroad Co. property; IP.
2, City of San Francisco propertys IP,
Chairman Landon then called upon City Attorney Struthers for a report on off-street
parking requirements for Main Street businesses, Chairman Landon suggested handling
each case individually and that both the City and the party involved have an obliga-
tion. In this case, land use is not being changed and the percentage of remodeling
is small.
Chairman Landon then opened the public hearing on the application of March Engin-
eering Co „ Inc, and Mrs. L, Glaser, 11 Lewelling Blvd „ Hayward, for a Variance
from Section 17.200 et seq„ Ord. No, 309 (off-street parking requirements) in
order to construct an addition to an existing building at 443 Main St „ in a C-C
District. Mr. Paul Loretz spoke from the audience and stated that off-street park-
ing could be expanded to the rear of businesses, and believed the public would ob-
ject to a parking assessment district. He was of the opinion that the Variance
should be approved with reasonable requirements, Mr, R,I, Smith, of March Engineer-
ing Co „ was present and stated the lots are below minimum requirements, and
remodeling warrants its own conditions; an 8' x 10~ area is the only expansion in
this case, There being no further comments, Chairman Landon declared the public
hearing closed, Mr, Fales suggested the initiation of an off-street parking agree-
ment by the Planning Commission to be approved by the City Council. City Attorney
Struthers was requested to draw up a rough draft of an off-street parking agreement,
and the matter will be scheduled fox the April 18 agenda, Regarding this case,
however, it was suggested that, because of the negligible effect of the remodeling
on the total area of the building, the Variance be granted with the condition that
any further alterations of the building would require application of all off-street
parking requirements. After discussion by the Commission, upon motion of Commis-
sioner Wipfli, seconded by Commissioner Antonini, the following resolution was
unanimously adopted:
RESOLUTION N0. 207
axn addition to an existing building at 443 Main Street, in a C-C District,
