Chairman Landon then opened the public hearing on the application of Mra. Anna Brown,
460 Division St „ for a Variance from Section 17.700, Ord. No. 309, in order to
allow installation of an advertizing sign within the required front yard setback,
at the above location in an RG-15 District. Mra. Brown was present in the audience
and described her proposed sign as 15"x30", illuminated, on an 8-foot pole, indicat-
ing the entrance to her apartments. There being no further comments from the
audience, it was moved by Commissioner Antonini, seconded by Commissioner Wipfli,
and carried, that the public hearing be closed. Mr. Campbell, in giving the staff
report, stated the required front yard setback is 25 ft., which includes the sign.
The main buildings are behind older existing buildings and are not visible from the
street; therefore, some type of directional sign is necessary--it is more a direction
al than an advertizing sign. The Commission then passed to the next item on the
agenda, pending Mra. Brown's presentation of a plot plan indicating the position of
the proposed sign to be considered later on the agenda.
Chairman Landon opened the public hearing on the application of the Planning Commis-
sion for allocation of I-P (Industrial Park) zoning to the area included within
Annexation No. 29, Pleasanton-Sunol Annex "C". There being no comment from the
audience, it was moved by Commissioner Wipfli, seconded by Commissioner Lozano, and
carried, that the public hearing be closed. Mr. Campbell, in giving the staff re-
port, explained that this is the normal legal procedure, necessitating recommenda-
tion to the City Council of zoning for the above-described parcel. Upon motion of
Commissioner Wipfli, seconded by Commissioner Lozano, the following resolution was
unanimously adopted by those Commissioners present:
RESOLUTION N0. 262
RESOLVED:
The City of Pleasanton Planning Commission does hereby
recommend to the City Council amendment of Ordinance
No. 309 in order to provide I-P (Industrial Park) zoning
to the area included within Annexation No. 29, Pleasanton-
Sunol Annex "C".
The next item on the agenda was the application of Earl P. Roller, 163 Neal St.,
for a Zoning Permit in order to install an advertizing sign at the above address
in a C-C District. Mr. Campbell, in giving the staff report, said it is a non-
illuminated 18"x24" business identification sign supported from the old Bank of
America building on Neal St. After discussion, upon motion of Commissioner Antonini,
seconded by Commissioner Wipfli, the following resolution was unanimously adopted
by those Commissioners present:
RESOLUTION N0. 263
WHEREAS, the application of Earl P. Roller, 163 Neal St., for a Zoning
Permit in order to install an advertizing sign at the above
address in a C-C District, has come before this Commission;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVID, that the City Planning Commission does hereby grant the
above-named Zoning Permit with the following condition at-
tached thereto:
1. Installation of said sign shall be subject to the
issuance of a building permit.
At this point, Chairman Landon returned to the matter of the application of Mra.
Anna Brown for a Variance in order to allow installation of a sign, which had been
continued from earlier on the agenda. Mra. Brown amended her application to define
the location of the proposed sign, i.e., 7 ft. from the edge of the sidewalk. After
inspection of Mra. Brown's amended plot plan, upon motion of Commissioner Antonini,
seconded by Commissioner Wipfli, the following resolution was unanimously adopted
by those Commissioners present:
