<br />WHEREAS, the application of V.E. Scribner, 542 Bonita Avenue, for a
<br />Variance from Section 7.500, Ord. No. 309, in order to construct
<br />a duplex with reduced rear and front-yard setbacks, at the southwest corner
<br />of Rottinger Drive and Pico Avenue, in an R-2 District, has come before
<br />this Commission;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
<br />RESOLVED, that the above-named application fora Variance is hereby denied
<br />for the reason that it does not meet the requirements for the
<br />issuance of a Variance ae apecifi.ed in Sections 19.1003 4nd 19.1004 of
<br />Ordinance No. 309.
<br />The next item on the agenda was the application of Blaze Neon, 37345 Blacow Road,
<br />Fremont, fora Zoning Permit in order to Lnetall a single-face illuminated plastic
<br />sign at the McBlhenny Market, 4277 First St., in a C-C District. Mr. Falea stated
<br />the sign is 8 ft. by 2 ft. with 14-inch letters. The subject sign, indicating
<br />"LIQUOR", would be larger, as an accessory sign, than other signs Identifying entire
<br />businesses in the Center. The staff recommends that either the size of the sign be
<br />reduced or that the application be denied, Nr. Ren Randall, representing Blaze Neon,
<br />was present in the audience and said that the size of the letters could be reduced
<br />from 14" to 12" and still be in proportion to the length. After discussion by the
<br />Commission, upon motion of Commissioner Lozano, seconded by Commissioner Johnston,
<br />the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote:

<br />WHEREAS, the application of Blaze Neon, 37345 Blacow Road, Fremont, for
<br />a Zoning Permit in order to install a single-face illuminated
<br />plastic sign at the McElhenny Market, 4277 Pirst Street, in a C-C District,
<br />has come before this Commission;
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
<br />RESOLVED, that the above-named Zoning Petmit is hereby approved with the
<br />following condition:
<br />1. The lettering on said sign ehail not exceed one foot
<br />in height.
<br />Discussion ensued regarding the need for a sign ordinance. Mr. Ren Randall stated
<br />that he is chairmen of a committee which ie preparing a model sign ordinance, end
<br />Chairman Landon asked that the City receive a copy of the model ordinance when it
<br />ie finished.
<br />Mr. Fales stated that the applicant had requested that the next item on the agenda,
<br />Consideration of Land Uae, Proposed Annexation No. 36 (Armudon Property, Sunol
<br />Blvd.), be continued to the meeting of November 25. It was moved by Commissioner
<br />Raga, seconded by Commissioner Lozano, and carried, that the above matter be con-
<br />tinued to the meeting of November 25, 1964.
<br />The next item on the agenda was clarification of recommendation to the City Council
<br />re: RZ64-10 (Rose Ranch Rezoning). Mr. Fales explained thst in the report and recom-
<br />mendation to the City Council from the Planning Commission, dated October 16, 1964,
<br />for an amendment to Ordinance No. 309 rezoning the area of proposed Tract No. 2639,
<br />2+ acres located in the southeast quadrant of the Santa Rita-Tassajara Rd. inter-
<br />change was inadvertently omitted, Thia area should have been designated in the
<br />subject report as C-T. Upon motion of Commissioner Johnston, seconded by Cammi.asion-
<br />er Lozano, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote:
