back requirements of Ordinance No. 309 in connection with construction of a single-
family dwelling at 1888 Tanglewood Way, in an R-1 District. Mr. Campbell presented
the staff report which stated that this Variance for a front yard setback affects
the garage portion only. The main objective for this application is to preserve
two large walnut trees on this property. This application is for a four foot set-
back which affects garage only, and the staff could forsee no problems resulting
from traffic pattern in this area. The staff recommended approval of this appli-
cation. Mr. Martinson, representing Rainier Construction, was present in the
audience. Upon motion of Commissioner Plato, seconded by Chairman Antonini, and
carried, the public hearing was closed. After further discussion, upon motion of
inance No. 309, in connection with construction of
Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of Wanda Glaser, 393
Rose Avenue, for an amendment to Ordinance No. 309 rezoning the property Located at
4673 Augustine Street from the R-1 District to the RG-15 District. At the same
time, Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the next item for application
of the Planning Commission for an amendment to Ordinance No. 309 rezoning all of the
property bordered on the west by Harrison Street, on the north by Weat Angela Street,
on the east by Augustine Street, and on the south by Bernal Avenue, except for that
portion fronting on Bernal Avenue which is zoned C-0, from the R-1 District to the
RG-15 District. Mr. Campbell presented the staff report which covered both appli-
cations for rezoning. It was pointed out that the McGregor parcel had recently been
favorably acted upon by the City Council and the Planning Commission. This area is
designated as RG residential in the General Plan. Mr. Campbell pointed out for the
benefit of the applicant, that rezoning of property consisting of fifty foot wide
Lots, which are quite deep and sub-standard width for multiple development, does
not indicate in any way that the Planning Commission intends to relax their standards
for multiple development. Staff recommended a favorable action to the City Council
that this entire block be rezoned from R-1 ro RG-15 at this time. Upon motion of
Commissioner Johnston, seconded by Chairman Antonini, and carried, the public hearing
was closed. After further discussion, upon motion of Commissioner Plato, seconded by
Chairman Antonini, the following resolution was adopted by unanimous vote.
