<br />The regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at
<br />8:03 P.M„ on Wednesday, September 14, 1966, by Chairman Antonini.
<br />ROLL CALL showed the following:
<br />Present: Commissioner Arnold
<br />Garrigan
<br />Johnston
<br />Plato
<br />Chairman Antonini
<br />Absent: Secretary Fales
<br />Mr. Alan Campbell, Director of Public
<br />Works, acted as Secretary Pro Tem for
<br />this meeting.
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Johnston, seconded by Commissioner Arnold, and carried,
<br />the minutes of the meeting of August 31, 1966, were approved as presented by unani-
<br />mous vote.
<br />Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of L. E. Brooks,
<br />D.D.S., 252 Spring Street, fot a Variance from Section 17.705, Ordinance No. 309,
<br />in order to erect a professional office sign at the above address, in a C-C Dis-
<br />trict. It was determined to consider the Zoning Permit application on this matter
<br />at the same time. Mr. Campbell presented the staff report for both the Variance
<br />and the Zoning Permit application. The staff report stated that the Ordinance
<br />states that professional signs are limited to two square feet and must be flat
<br />against the wall. This sign is approximately five and one-half square feet in size.
<br />The staff offered no ob~ectiona and recommended that both the Variance and the
<br />Zoning Permit be approved. The architect representing Mr. Brooks was preaeat in the
<br />audience and presented a rendering of the sign and the building. Upon motion of
<br />Commissioner Garrigan, seconded by Chairman Antonini, and carried, the public
<br />hearing was closed. After further dissuasion, upon motion of Chairman Antonini,
<br />seconded by Commissioner Garrigan, the following resolution was adopted by unani-
<br />mous vote.

<br />WHEREAS, the application of L. E. Brooks, D.D.S., 252 Spring
<br />Street, for a Variance from Section 17.705, Ordinance
<br />No. 309, in order to erect a professional office sign
<br />at the above address, in a C-C District, has come
<br />before this Commission:
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
<br />RESOLVED: that the above named application be approved.
<br />After further discussion, upon motion of Chairman Antonini, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Garrigan, and carried, it was determined that the above named Zoning Permit be
<br />approved.
<br />Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of Sunset Aluminum
<br />Products, 2172 Railroad Avenue, Livermore, for a Conditional Use Permit in order to
<br />restore a portion of a non-conforming use (carport for a single-family residence) at
<br />276 Spring Street, in a C-C Diatrlct. Mr. Campbell presented the staff report which
<br />pointed out that a recent fire had destroyed the former garage on this property and
<br />that thle application was for replacement of that garage. Staff recommended approval.
<br />Mr. Loretz, owner of the property in question, was present in the audience. Upon
<br />motion of Commissioner Johnston, seconded by Chairman Antonini, and carried, the
<br />public hearing was closed. After further discussion, upon motion of Commissioner
<br />Arnold, seconded by Commissioner Johnston, the following resolution was adopted by
<br />unanimous vote.
