RESOLVED: to recommend to the City Council that entire
block outlined above be approved for rezoning
from the R-1 District to the RG-15 District.
The next item on the agenda was the application of Phillips petroleum Company, One
Bush Street, San Francisco , for a Zoning Permit in order to replace an existing
advertizing sign at 905 Santa Rita Road, in a C-T District. Mr. Campbell presented
the staff report which stated that this application is to replace an existing sign,
changing it from Tidewater Oil, Flying A to Phillips 66. This is to be the same
type of sign, non-revolving and non-flashing. Upon motion of Chairman Antonini,
seconded by Commissioner Carrigan, and carried, it was determined that the above
named application be approved.
There were no Communications.
Under Referrals from Alameda County, there were three items. 1. Regarding a kennel
in an A-2 District on Mission Road, west of Andrade Road, which is outside our
planning area. Staff was instructed to advise the County Planning Commission that
this was outside the Pleasanton Planning Area and that there was no comment pro or
con. Items 2 and 3 were for outdoor advertising signs at Highway 50 at the inter-
change with Foothill Road, at the approximate location where there is an existing
sign for Polk-McLain and Perms-Silt. Staff was instructed to recommend to the
County Planning Commission that these signs be denied as they are along a scenic
route.
The next item on the agenda was Referrals from Recreation and Park Commission regard-
ing the Pleasanton Valley Park Plan. Gary Patton, Recreation Director, was present
and spoke stating that this was a general plan for the paric and for the information
of the Commission. Mr. Patton further stated that it was felt that this plan was
adequate and reasonable, and that the park consisted of over two acres in size.
The Commission indicated approval of the plan in general.
Under Matters Initiated by Commission Members, Commissioner Plato requested that on
Tentative Subdivision Maps it would be beneficial if the Commission could review
these maps prior to the night on which their action is desired. Commissioner Plato
further stated that perhaps a policy could be adopted to have a study session on
each subdivision map, before the meeting at which a decision is required, consisting
of over twenty homes. It was suggested that the maps be presented for study session
two weeks prior to the time a decision is to be made and if the agenda is too large
for that particular meeting, to schedule a study session during the interim period
between meetings. Staff was so instructed.
Commissioner Plato also requested a report on the Mobil sign reported at an earlier
date. Mr. Campbell informed the Commission that this was not a new sign, but
merely a new face on the existing sign.
Chairman Antonini asked that a letter be directed to Standard Oil Company regarding
the landscaping at their station.
There being no further business to come before the Commission, upon motion of
Commissioner Carrigan, seconded by Chairman Antonini, and carried, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:02 P,M„ to meet again on Wednesday, September 28 1966, at 8:00 P.M.
