<br />Application of Pleasanton Valley Company, 6000 Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, for
<br />a Variance from Section 17.705, Ordinance No. 309, in order to allow two
<br />additional real estate tract signs, in excess of the four allowable and of
<br />greater than allowable area, to be located st several locations in a C-T,
<br />A and C-C District. Mr. Spink presented the staff report which requested a
<br />possible continuance of this matter. Mr. Dudley Frost was present in the
<br />audience and spoke !n defense of the signs involved. Mr. Frost also displayed
<br />photographs of signs relative to future development in the various locations
<br />of Pleasanton Valley. Upon motion of Chairman Antonini, seconded by Cosaiaeio~r
<br />Plato, and carried, the public hearing was closed. After further discussion
<br />relative to location, number and square footage, a resolution was made by
<br />Commissioner Arnold to deny this application. The resolution died for lack

<br />Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing on the application of American Neon
<br />Displays, Inc., 810 - 23rd Avenue, Oakland, for a Variance from Section 11.201,
<br />Ordinance No. 309, in order to allow the replacement of an existing free-standing
<br />sign to be located at 707 Main Street 1n a C-C District. Mr. Spink presented
<br />the staff report on both the Variance and Zoning Permit applications. The staff
<br />report listed conditions for approval. Mr. Bud Clark from American Neon was
<br />present in the audience and concurred with the staff reports. Upon motion of
<br />Commissioner Carrigan, seconded by Chairman Antonini, and carried, the public
<br />hearing was closed. After further discussion, upon motion of Commissioner
<br />Carrigan, seconded by Chairman Antonini, the following resolution was adopted
<br />by unanimous vote.

<br />and necessary repairs to sidewalk be

<br />at the northern propert7 line with the
<br />provision of a small raised planting area,
<br />if l3oseible.
<br />(3) That the new sign be allowed to project into
<br />the public right-of-way provided an Encroach-
<br />ment Permit has boon obtained.
