4g. V-67-44, Westbrook Advertising Company. Chairman Antonini opened the <br />pnb73c hearing on the application of Westbrook Advertising Company, 244 McEvoy <br />St., San Jose, as agent for Besco Development Co. for a Variance from Sec. <br />17.705, Ordinance No. 309 for four off-tract signs in excess of 30 square <br />feet in area to be located at Sunol Boulevard at Mission Park; Stanley Boule- <br />vard and First Street; Bernal Avenue and Foothill Road, and Santa Rita Road <br />and Valley Avenue, Mr. Spink presented the staff report which recommended <br />acceptance of two of the four signs requested, subject to conditions. There <br />was discussian concerning the request for "directional" signs, as no directions <br />were indicated on the sign proposal. The applicant was not present in the <br />audience. Upon motion of Commissioner Arnold, seconded by Co®issioner Garrigan, <br />and carried, the public hearing was closed. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />Garrigan, seconded by Chairman Antonini, the following resolution was adopted <br />by unanimous vote: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 713 <br />WHEREAS, the application of Westbrook Advertising Company, 244 <br />McEvoy Street, San Jose, for a Variance from Section <br />17.705, Ordinance No. 309, for two off-tract signs to <br />be located at Sunol Boulevard at Mission Park, and <br />Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue, has came before <br />this Commission: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT <br />RESOLVED: that the above-named application be approved for the <br />above two locations only, and subject to the follow- <br />ing conditions: <br />1) Variance is granted for two signs only, which will <br />be the only off-tract signs. <br />2) Sign area shall be limited to 50 square feet <br />3) Approval shall be for a period of one year or for <br />six months after the new Zoning Ordinance is adopted, <br />whichever is less. <br />It was decided to consider Items a through h, for zoning permits for signs, <br />2-67-53, Bernal and Foothill; Z-67-55, Stanley Boulevard and First Street; <br />Z-67-56, Sunol Boulevard and Mission Park; Z-67-57, Santa Rita Road and <br />Valley Avenue. After further discussion, UPON MOTION ~ COMMISSIONER ARNOLD, <br />SECONDED BY COMPSISSIONBR GARRIGAN, AND CARRIED, IT WAS DETERMINED TO APPROVE <br />Z-67-56 and Z-67-57 FOR OFF-TRACT SIGNS TO BE LOCATED AT SUNOL BOUf.EVARD AND <br />MISSION VIEW DRIVE, AND SANTA RITA ROAD AND VALLEY AVENUE SUBJECT TO THE <br />FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: <br />(1) Conformance with Exhibit A except that in no case shall the setback <br />from the right-of-way line be less than 20 feet. <br />(2) Subject to conditions of V-67-44. <br />4h. V-67-45, Robert Manchester. Chairman Antonini opened the public hearing <br />on the application of Robert Manchester, 4622 Muirwood Drive for a Variance <br />from Sec. 18.603 to allow a 3'~ to 5 foot fence in the required front yard <br />at the above address in an R-1 District. The applicant concurred with the <br />staff report which suggested approval but with a front yard setback to be <br />not less than 15 feet. Upon motion of Commissioner Garrigan, seconded by <br />Commissioner Arnold, and carried, the public hearing was closed. Upon motion <br />of Commissioner Garrigan, seconded by Commissioner Gibbs, the following <br />resolution was adopted by unanimous vote: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 714 <br />t~REAS, the application of Robert Manchester, 4622 Muirwood <br />Drive, for a Variance from Section 18.603 to allow a <br />3'~ to 5 foot fence in the required front yard at <br />the above address in an R-1 District has come before <br />this Coo~ission: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT <br />RESOLVED: that the above-named application be approved in accordance <br />with Exhibit "A" and subject to the following condition: <br />1.
