b. The horizontal dimension of an advertising sign face shall not exceed
twenty (20) feet and the total area shall not exceed two hundred (200)
square feet, with the maximum height not to exceed 20 feet from ground
level.
c. The ,horizontal dimension of the directional sign face shall not exceed
twelve (12) feet and the total area shell not exceed sixty (60) square feet,
and total height shall not exceed 12 feet.
For the purpose of these regulations, a directional sign is one which informs
the viewer as to route or change of direction of travel in order to arrive
at the land development project. This type of sign may only display necessary
travel directions, the name of the land development project, any characteristic
trademark, insignia of similar device of the developer, and any identifying
material as required by the regulations;
d. One non-illuminated sign pertaining to the proposed use such as a church,
school, park or shopping center, but not exceeding twelve (12) square feet
1n area may be erected at the site of each such proposed use in a development;
e. No writers are permitted. There shall be no additions, tag, sign, streamers,
devices, display boards or appurtenances added to the sign as originally
approved;
f. Any such sign approved for a particular subdivision shall not be changed
to advertise another subdivision;
g. Such signs may be established along, but not within, the right-of-way
of any highway, street or thoroughfare; except such signs may not be established
along established and existing freeways which have been designated as freeway
routes by the Division of Highways of the State of California;
h. Such signs may be maintsined for a period of eighteen (18) months from the
date upon which the final subdivision map was recorded, or a preliminary sub-
division public report issued, or until all the lots in the subdivision have
been sold;
i. Prior to erecting any sign approved by the Zoning Administrator, a penal
bond in the amount of two hundred-fifty dollars (250) shall be filed with and
accepted by the Zoning Administrator, and the applicant shall file a written
statement from the property owner authorizing either the applicant or the City
to go onto the property at any time to remove the sign. In case of failure
to perform or comply with any term or provision pertaining to such sign, the
Zoning Administrator may declare the bond forfeited. Upon expiration of the
sign, approval and removal of the sign, the bond may be exonerated by the Zoning
Administrator upon application made thereto."
There was considerable discussion on 17.1O8.i, in relation to the amount of
bond proposed. Mr. Frost favored a smaller amount. Mr. Frost also requested
that developers be allowed more than two directional signs, but less tract
signs, stating that directional signs in his opinion were more important.
Considerable discussion maned on the possibility of allowing more signs.
Section remained as proposed by staff.
12. MATTERS FOR INFORMATION OF THE COMMISSION
(a) Reconsideration of Tract 2842 tentative man, concerninK lots 48 through 57.
Mr. Castro informed the Commission that the tentative map had been approved by
the Commission originally February 20, 1964, with these lots having a depth of
113 feet backing up to high school grounds. on February 23, 1966, the Planning
Commission approved a second tentative map, Tract 2842, indicating a depth of
105 feet for the said lots, which does not meet the minimum requirement of the
Ordinance of 120 feet. The applicant asked that the Commission modify their
approval and allow these lots to have a depth of 105-107 feet. UPON MOTION OF
CHAIRMAN ANTONINI, SECONDED BY COML~fISSIONER PLATO, AND CARRIED, IT WAS DETERMINED
THAT THS DEPTH OF LOTS 48 THROUGH 57 SAOULD REMAIN BETWEEN 105 and 107 FRET
AS SHOWN ON TENTATIVE MAP TRACT 2842.
(b) City Council's Referral RZ-67-16.
Mr. Castro noted that City Council's proposal for Rezoning of the D & V property
listed in RZ-67-16, would be referred back to the Commission at the meeting of
January 24, 1968, in order to comply with the Zoning Ordinance procedures.
_4_ 1=17-68
