b. Application of the Planning Commission for an amendment to Article 8, "I"
Industrial Districts Section 8.106 Underground Utilities
Amendment to Article 8, Section 8.106, to require that the requirements of this
section pertain to the I-G District as well as the I-P District. (Public
Hearing continued from November 13, 1968).
Chairman Antonini opened the Public Hearing. Mr. Alan Campbell, Director of
Public Works, stated that basically, the requirements for underground utilities
were started as amendments to the old Zoning Ordinance and were originally left
out on the theory that the I-G District would be different and of a lower
standard than the I-P District. Further, the I-G District as defined on the
General Plan is readily visible from both Interstates ~k680 and ~k580 and other
major thoroughfares. He went on to say that there is no engineering reason
for any distinction between the districts, and therefore recommended that
Zoning Ordinance No. 520 be amended to include underground utilities for the
I-G District as well as the I-P.
Upon motion of Commissioner Plato, seconded by Chairman Antonini, and carried,
the Public Hearing was closed.
Upon motion of Commissioner Garrigan, seconded by Commissioner Plato, and
carried, the following resolution was unanimously adopted.
RESOLUTION N0. 835
WHEREAS, the application of the Planning Commission
to amend Article 8, Sec. 8.106, Underground
Utilities, to require that the requirements
of this section pertain to the I-G District,
as well as the I-P District, has come before
this Commission,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Planning Commission of the City of
Pleasanton hereby recommends to City Council
that Zoning Ordinance No. 520 be amended to
require that Article 8, "I" Industrial
Districts, Section 8.106, Underground Utilities,
apply to the I-G District, as well as the I-P
District.
6. PUBLIC HEARINGS - NEW BUSINESS
a. UP-68-11. Pentecostal Church of God
Application of the Pentecostal Church of God to allow the construction of a
Church in a R-1 District at that property commonly known as 431 Neal Street,
Pleasanton, containing 1.49 acres more or less.
Chairman Antonini opened the Public Hearing. The Planning Director read the
entire staff report, after which the applicant, Mr. George T. McKean, Pastor,
who was in the audience, raised objections citing other churches that had
received approval from the Planning Commission. Chairman Antonini inquired if
the applicant planned to demolish the present property and was informed by the
applicant that he felt that in time they would do the building over; however,
at the present time, there was insufficient funds to do any kind of renovating.
Chairman Antonini inquired after the size of the congregation, and received
an answer of 40 people at present.
There were many people in the audience and several individuals expressed their
opinions on this application.
- 3 -
