The new applicants are making every effort to erect a new building.
Commissioner Plato teco~ended the vacant lot between the Starting Gate
and the Field's Furniture Store on Rose Avenue. Mr. Castro presented
and explained the new circulation plan, which would divert the route
from St. Augustine and Rose Streets, because of its narrowness. Mr. Castro
and Mr. Campbell both stated that the City can only suggest possible sites
and routes for the bus depot, but Commissioner Plato feels it violages
zoning ordinance because of the necessity of loading or unloading zones.
Mr. Castro still maintained that the Commission should basically approve
the location proposed by Mr. Mark Gerton for the bus depot on a temporary
basis with the condition that final approval would have to come when
Mr. Young submits his plane for the new building.
Mr. Castro further stated that plans are being worked on by the architects.
The zoning permit can take care of this until something concrete is
submitted. The Planning Department feels this zoning permit should be
granted subject to the bus route as revised. Mr. Gerton was presented
with this revised suggested routing.
RESOLUTION N0. 796
WHEREAS, Application to allow an existing small house to be
remodeled to operate a travel service office and also
temporary permission to operate the Greyhound Agency
from the hobby shop (or trailer) at the property
known as 459 Main Street, has come before this
Commission,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,
1. that the granting of this permit is of an
emergency measure for six months subject to the use
being located in the hobby shop with the street
circulation as recommended by the Planning and Public
Works Departments. During this time, the owners '
of the props rty will come back to the Planning
Commission with more suitable plane fora more
permanent approval of said zoning permit.
b. Z-68-47. Amador Shoovins Center
Application for permit to construct Building "D" on said property of
Amador Center on Santa Rita and Valley Avenue, with accompanying land-
scaping and parking facilities. There was general discussion of
architecture and type of commercial facilities that the area will contain.
Commissioner Plato feels that the periphery of the property needs to be
buffered and landscaped. The Planning Director advised the Commission
that the rear property lines are currently landscaped. The Commisslon
felt this item was referred to the Planning Commission very late, hence
there was insufficient time to make a thorough study of the property.
Commissioner Plato feels a master plan should be presented and the future
individual businesses be incorporated into the Plan as they are envisioned.
However, it was pointed out that the applicant, who is reaponslble for
the development, requested a decision from the Commission at this time.
Commissioner Plato moved and seconded that no decision be made at this
time until there was an opportunity for a further study. Commissioner
Gibbs opposed this decision.
7. COMMUNICATIONS
a. Resolution of Intent to correct Article 2 of Zonin¢ Ordinance ~'S20
The Commission considered the following staff request for amendments
to Zoning Ordinance 520 and passed the following resolution:
RESOLUTION N0. 797
To amend Sec. 2.100 to correct typographical error
regarding the front yard setbacks for the following
districts: R-1 10,000; R-1 8,500; R-1 6,500;
R-M 4,000; R-M 2,500; R-M 2,000; R-M 1,500; from
15 ft. to 23 ft.
