In this letter, Judge Gale
recommends a continuance so that he could discuss the matter in detail with
the Commission. This delay would also permit for several other property
owners to take part in the discussions on the G.P.A., as these people
would have some interest in the discussion. Recommendations basically
were to change those areas which had previously been considered by the
Commission aad the City Council.
General Industrial Area
Specifically, recommendations as related to the Industrial Area, were
presented as follows:
It was the Planning Director's recommendation that the Val Vista development be
recognized, further that the commercial area at the intersection of Hopyard
and Weat Las Positas be also described in the General Plan. In reference
to the balance of the industrial properties located north of the Mocho Canal
and generally located between Interstate 680 and Santa Rita Road, it was
recommended that moat of the properties be retained the same as at present
on the General Plan, with the exception of the V.C.S. D. plant and those
other Government properties as now defined in the Assessor's roll. The
director further advised the Commission that the Willow Weat development
plan as presented to the City should be incorporated in this new change.
In reference to the Pleasanton Valley development, the director recosm~ended
that the commercial area, which was presently located on Black Avenue and
Hopyard, be relocated to the intersection of Valley Avenue and Hopyard,
and that those multiple areas previously considered by the Commission and
Council also be recognized with the new revision. The director further
advised the Commission that the suggested land use change for those properties
fronting on Foothill Boulevard be continued at this time pending further
information by Mr. William Gale, as noted in his letter submitted to the
Commission, and the owners of the property formally known as the Meadowlark
Dairy. The director advised the Commission that the properties known as
the Castlewood properties located at the intersection of Bernal Avenue
and Foothill Road, had been reaearctied by the staff and it was found that
the current zoning on the property is proper and should be recognized ae
such. The director also advised the Commission that no conditional zoning
permit has been applied to that property.
The Planning Director further requests that the Sunol Road area extending
from Main Street to the freeway be left ae 1t is, pending further study by
the General Plan Citizens Review Committee. No other modifications or
revisions were recommended at this time by the Planning Director.
Commissioner Plato inquired as to how many of the above recommendations
needed to be resolved by the Commission at this time. Mr. Castro stated
that in general, most of the recommendations have previously been officially
approved by the City of Pleasanton and at this time, with the exception
of the properties fronting on Foothill Road and Sunol Boulevard, that the
changes previously described could be recommended to the City Council.
