B. The City will encourage the Pleasanton Unified School District to develop <br /> programs which teach and emphasize the importance of agriculture to the State <br /> and local economy. <br /> <br />7. Fencing. The City shall implement, following consultation with agricultural landowners, <br /> requirements for practical and functional fencing designs that meet the needs of the <br /> landowner. <br /> <br />8. Street Signs. <br /> <br /> A. The City shall post public street sign notices in agricultural areas which inform <br /> private individuals that they are responsible for any damage caused to agricultural <br /> property and livestock by their dogs. <br /> <br /> B. Signs shall be posted along the Bypass Road warning of potential slow-moving <br /> agricultural vehicles, and livestock and agricultural vehicle crossings. <br /> <br />9. Rodent and Weed Control. The City will support implementation of the Alameda County <br /> Agricultural Commissioner's Rodent and Weed Control Program, subject to compliance <br /> with State and Federal requirements for the preservation of endangered species. <br /> <br />10. Agricultural/Open Space Designation Clarification. Areas designated as <br /> Agriculture/Open Space (A/OS) by the Happy Valley Specific Plan are considered for <br /> private use, with the exception of: (1) fee title to land acquired for public use by the City <br /> or other public entity: and (2) areas designated for use as a public trails with recorded <br /> public trails easements. <br /> <br />11. Sensitive Trail Design. Public trails on or near roads in agricultural areas should be <br /> located and designed to be sensitive to and protect agricultural operations. <br /> <br />12. "No Trespassing" Signs. "No Trespassing" signs shall be posted along public trails <br /> located on public easements or public land adjoining agricultural land to warn the public <br /> to stay on the trails and offof the private property. Signs should further indicate that <br /> violators will be subject to prosecution. <br /> <br />13. Dogs. <br /> <br /> A. Signs shall be posted on public trails situated on public easements or public land <br /> adjoining private agricultural land which require users to keep their dogs on leash. <br /> Signs shall further indicate that violators will be subject to prosecution. <br /> <br /> 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
