He also stated
the reason he felt more commercial uses
should be expanded was because he felt that
the downtown area would never realize its
full potential as a thriving commercial
center. Mr. Corley also assured the Commiss
that it was not Western Sierra's intention
to ever permit any uses which would be
incompatible to the character they are
attempting to promote.
Chairman Garrigan then read a motion passed
at the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce
wherein the Chamber resolved to oppose the
C-S zoning for the northwest corner of Santa
Rita Road and Valley Avenue, but not oppose
the extension of conditional use permit by
Western Sierra, and that they are not
opposed to P.U.D. for the area."
A Mr. Rapp, partner in Essenar Investments,
developers of the Amador Center across the
street, spoke in opposition of the matter.
A Mr. Cole, 333 Mission Drive, expressed
concern that there would be too much com-
petition from Western Sierra to the uses
in existence at the Amador Center.
It was explained by Mr. Corley that Western
Sierra would not permit themselves to get
into a price war because they have a
percentage lease on their tenants.
There being no further testimony, the Public
Hearing was closed.
There was much discussion between the
Commissioners, regarding the possible
screening of the uses before they go in.
Considerable thought was also given to
permitting certain uses under a P.U.D.
- 2 -
