No. 1009. <br />Commissioner Pons stated that he does not <br />feel there is validity in the practice that <br />because approval is given for one office to <br />go into a predominantly multiple area, that <br />further dispersion should be permitted; <br />however, he was in sympathy with the applica <br />but could not volunteer any other area where <br />Mr. Mayer could locate his office use. <br />Commissioner Pons did state he felt that som <br />policy should be established for dispersal c <br />office uses outside of the C.B.D. area. <br />Chairman Garrigan stated that he concurred <br />with the staff report. <br />There being no further testimony, the Public <br />Hearing was closed. <br />A resolution recommending denial was entered <br />and passed. <br />.Application of the Planning Commission to Resolution: <br />review and consider an amendment to the Gen- Seconded: <br />~'~eral Plan to revise the circulation classifi- Ayes: <br />cation for Foothill Road between Bernal Ave. Noes: <br />and Verona Road, from a four-lane thorough- Absent: <br />fare to a two-lane thoroughfare. Abstain: <br />The Planning Director gave an explanation of <br />the reasons behind this amendment request, <br />which was initiated by the Citizens Committe <br />to Preserve Foothill Road. The main concern <br />was for the area from Bernal to Verona, but <br />after considerable deliberation between the <br />City staff and Commissioners, along with <br />representatives, Mrs. Ruth Amaral and others <br />from her group, it was felt that perhaps <br />some type of designation could also be made <br />for the area north of Bernal up to ~~580. <br />The Director of Public Works advised that <br />a study is to be conducted between the <br />State, Alameda County and the City to deter- <br />mine the number of lanes in relation to the <br />traffic flow for that portion between <br />West Las Positas Blvd. and Interstate ~~580, <br />X <br />x <br />2 <br />
