4y$~sA1V~o~L C TY of PLEASANTON <br />I <br />. ~:% <br />.~M:o~-~ Planning Commission <br />MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING. <br />D at8 : June 24, 1970 <br />Time : s:o5 PM <br />PIGCB; Pleasanton Justice Court <br />(There being no further testimony, the Public <br />Hearing was closed. <br />Commissioner Wood had no comments to offer a <br />this time. <br />Commissioner Pereira sympathized with the <br />needs of the community and realized that witt <br />the present growth, this type of use is <br />necessary. Also, that the reputation of the <br />Ark Schools is outstanding. However, he had <br />grave doubts about locating this use in the <br />proposed location. <br />Commissioner Hirst felt that he could go <br />along with this use because it is a condi- <br />tional one and a time limit can be imposed. <br />He also remarked that he would like to see <br />the trees on theproperty retained. <br />Commissioner Pons stated that he did not fee <br />the parking problems were so severe that the <br />could not be resolved. He felt the real <br />problem is the zoning of the parcel. <br />Commissioner Wood then voiced his opinion <br />that if Mr. Rega, the owner of the adjoining <br />property, managed to keep his property for <br />'Many length of time, he would eventually buil <br />'apartment units and under those circumstance <br />'it may be nice to have a nursery school next <br />.door. Commissioner Wood commented regarding <br />the late notices which were sent out to <br />.surrounding property owners. <br />Chairman Garrigan then spoke, stating that <br />he was aware of the excellent reputation of <br />the Ark Schools. However, he feels that the <br />necessary requirements should be upheld, <br />and that there must be some criteria for <br />establishing policy on nursery school appli- <br />cations. Chairman Garrigan further expresse <br />a desire that the Public and Institutional <br />uses within the City be reviewed. Planning <br />Director Castro advised the Chairman that <br />a nursery school would still be conditional <br />in the P District. <br />- 3 - <br />
