4~~~3A1VT~~ <br />CITY of PLEASANTON <br />~. ~~o <br />.x.:o~-~ Planning Commission <br />MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING. <br />DCte ; August 26, 1970 <br />Time ; 8:10 PM <br />FIaCe: Pleasanton Justice Court <br />Mrs. Frances Souza, representing her mother <br />o lives next door to 287 Rose Avenue, was <br />esent and spoke of the advanced age of her <br />they and the inconvenience this center <br />uld be to her. <br />Mrs. Barbara Mohr, 3548 Glacier Court South, <br />inquired why the Jackson-Perkins building on <br />Main Street was not used for this sort of a <br />center. She was advised that the building is <br />condemned. <br />Mr. Dick Clayson, 4498 Baker Court, spoke <br />in favor of the application. He elaborated <br />on the difficulty in obtaining suitable, <br />centrally located facilities for this type o <br />use. <br />Mrs. June Vieira, 303 Neal Street, and a <br />member of the Community Concerns Committee, <br />feels this location would be suitable. <br />Further discussion followed on the possible <br />noise and disturbance that would be generate <br />by this center. <br />',Mr. Elroy Rockstead, 4587 Black Avenue, on <br />the staff of the "Y", advised the Commission <br />.that he is in the Livermore center one night <br />a week and the big item with the kids at <br />this time is being able to get together for <br />discussion groups, or what they call "rap" <br />sessions. <br />Regarding the recommendations of the staff, <br />Mr. Mike Brown, stated that he felt they <br />were reasonable and that they could comply <br />with them. Chairman Garrigan emphasized to <br />Mr. Brown that if this application is approve <br />all conditions will have to be complied with, <br />Mrs. Souza had a question regarding what <br />recourse her mother had if there was a noise <br />disturbance. She was advised that her mothe <br />could call the Police Department. <br />- 8 - <br />
