Further discussion followec
regarding the ramifications of this situa-
tion.
A point was made clear to the audience that
according to the General Plan, by 1990,
,the estimated population slated for the area
~~between West Las Positas Boulevard and
Castlewood Drive is 14,500. The area in
question which will service this population
will run from West Las Positas Boulevard to
Castlewood Drive, and from Interstate ~k680 tc
the top of the ridge.
Chairman Garrigan expressed concern over
the City losing any industrial land. He was
concerned about the proposed C-F zoning for
the Bernal and ~~680 intersection; also he
did not like to see any recommendations for
prezoning. If a project came to the City
and was worthy of merit, it may gain approva:
but only if the applicant had a firm commit-
ment. This would mea n a loss of industrial
land. However, Chairman Garrigan felt the
balance of the suggested changes were good.
Commissioner Hirst expressed concern for
the multiple zoning at Foothill Road and
Bernal Avenue. He felt the area to be a
highly desirable one, and if it were possibly
to maintain that zoning with rural charac-
teristics, it would be highly beneficial to
the City. Commissioner Hirst also felt that
another zoning designation which would be
desirable is the Office zoning for high
quality professional offices. Perhaps the
multiple zoning should be decreased to allow
for more Office zoning.
- 5 -
