Absent: <br />Board to be heard by Abstain: <br />the full Commission) The Public Hearing was opened by Chairman <br />Garriga n. <br />The architect, Mr. Wayne Hertzka, spoke of <br />the staff report and the architectural draw- <br />ings. Discussion followed on the materials <br />to be utilized. Regarding the the roof <br />for the community facility, as noted in the <br />staff report, the applicant requested the <br />option to utilize heavy wood shake in place <br />of the tile. <br />After further discussion, the Public Hearing <br />was closed. <br />A resolution recommending approval of the <br />design plans for Z-71-34, subject to certain <br />conditions, was entered and passed. <br />MATTERS FOR Sidewalk phone booths on Main Street - a <br />COMMISSION'S REVIEW memorandum was submitted by the Director of <br />Public Works, requesting that the Planning <br />Commission lend its support to the City's <br />efforts to get Pacific Telephone Company to <br />remove all the phone booths within Under- <br />ground Utility District 71-1, lying between <br />Rose Avenue and the Post Office on Main St., <br />to allow for provisions for the future <br />installation of six sidewalk phone booths at <br />locations earlier approved. <br />While on the subject of the phone booths for <br />the downtown area, the Commissioners request <br />that the staff endeavor to obtain phone <br />booths more in keeping with the character of <br />the downtown area. <br />xlx <br />x <br />- 3 - <br />
