4y ~s""~°y CITY of PLEASANTON
~ ~.~ -
.~
`~~~~° Planning Commission
~lIMfO S
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DGte : April 13, 1971
Time : s: oo PM
PIG C8; Pleasanton Justice Court
The pedestrian access to the mall will be
Division Street and run adjacent to the
applicant's property.
After an agreement was reached regarding
dedication of access rights for the future
pedestrian mall, the architects spoke on
the design of the structure.
There were many questions regarding the
existing trees and the possibility of saving
them. Mr. Babcock indicated that his firm
had made a thorough survey of the parcel.
His findings are noted in a letter dated
February 4, 1971, to the architect's office,
regarding what trees he feels would be
worthwhile saving. The applicant indicated
they intend to replace all landscaping that
is removed with 22 new trees, in 15-gal.
size. All together, 9 trees would be remove
by them, if the City approves. The Com-
missioners felt that the applicant should
provide a tree larger than the 15-gal, size.
They also indicated a willingness to remove
the two palm trees to a site within the City
which would be of the City's choosing. This
of course, would be at the expense of the
developer.
The applicant closed his remarks with the
statement that they intend to develop a
beautiful structure and would very much
appreciate the reduction in the number of
parking spaces, and is willing to cooperate
with the City in every way possible.
The Commissioners, as a whole, were in favor
of this application, but felt that as many
of the trees as possible should be saved,
if they were worth saving.
A resolution was then offered, amended, and
carried approving this variance request,
with certain conditions attached.
- 2 -
