4y~~sANToy CITY o~ PLEASANTON
~~, .
,o
`~ ~*° Planning Commission
~LMfD t
MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING.
Dat@ : August 24, 1971
Time : s:lo PM
PIaC@; Pleasanton Justice Court
Ted Lannin, 5372 Ridgevale Road, read from
a report entitled San Jose, The Sprawling
City and suggested that the City look into
this as it may find that it is the way to
have an adequate growth projection and contr 1
the growth rate so that it does pay for itse f.
Gene Rega, 417 Adams Court, commended Chair-
man Garrigan for the comments made earlier.
~He further said that he hoped the Commission
would keep those same thoughts in mind as
,they consider the matters before them tonigh .
Ron McNicoll, 444 St. Marys, asked the
,Commission to detail just what they want as
,far as direction to control growth. Chairma
~~Garrigan replied that this is what he is
hoping the staff can determine and advise th
Commission of the type of policy to be
(followed.
'Commissioner Wood then commented that whether
ibuilding should be cut off at the planning
department or the building permit level
should be established. Approval could be
(,given but the building permits could be
held up. A study should be made on these
(points and this is what we are directing
~Ithe staff to do.
'Chuck Seymour, 492 San Gabriel, commended
'the Commission for their concern and willing•
'ness to take leadership. He further said the
'this is what has been needed for sometime.
'He further remarked that he thought it would
be better for all concerned, developers,
(citizens and staff, and the Commission, if
'the many items on the agenda that evening
would be continued until the City Council
and Commission has had time to do their work
looking into the requested policy. That
would be the appropriate time to review the
applications.
- 3 -
