No. 1134 District on the southeast corner of Hopyard Noes: <br />Road and Valley Avenue, Pleasanton, or more Absent: <br />commonly known as the Alpha Beta Shopping Abstain: <br />Center area. <br />Mr. Castro reported that the Chamber of <br />Commerce entered a resolution to approve <br />this use, but the motion was defeated. He <br />then read the staff report and letters from <br />the federal and state agencies. <br />Commissioner Hirst asked Mr. Castro to expan <br />if he would, on his definition or comments <br />on the C.B.D. as it would be affected by the <br />state and federal requirements. Mr. Castro <br />stated that in applying the state and federa <br />statements to our downtown area, there would <br />be conflicts in that our downtown area, the <br />way it is presently programmed, in linear <br />in shape and does not allow for much expansi <br />in an easterly or westerly direction. He <br />further advised the Commission that unless <br />the boundaries of the C.B.D. area are ex- <br />panded, future savings and loan institutions <br />may be totally discouraged by the state and <br />federal regulations. <br />Mr. Walter Bogel, Assistant Vice President, <br />Citizens Federal Savings and Loan, told the <br />Commission that the state and federal agenci s <br />to take each other into consideration when <br />approving a charter.
