4V$~8A"~°y CITY of PLEASANTON <br />~~ •~i, <br />4 <br />`~~~~° Planning Commission <br />`~!(M fD f <br />MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING. <br />~CtB December 14, 1971 <br />Time : 8:00 PM <br />PIaCe; Pleasanton Justice Court <br />As no one else wished to speak, the public <br />hearing was closed. <br />The Commission asked Mr. Castro if there <br />has been any input from the Chamber of <br />Commerce regarding improving downtown parkin <br />Mr. Castro replied that he met with the <br />Board of Direc~=ors of the Chamber and offere <br />the department's support with regard to impr <br />the downtown area and a Committee was to be <br />set up, but the matter has not been carried <br />through. <br /> <br />ing <br />There was discussion regarding maintaining <br />the downtown core as a vital part of the <br />town and Commissioner Pereira suggested that <br />the applicant would want to share in the <br />solutions of downtown parking. <br />The Commission felt that the City Council <br />has charged the Commission with the responsi <br />bility of enforcing the downtown policy. <br />Commissioner Pereira entered a resolution <br />for denial but the motion died for lack of <br />a second. <br />Commissioner Pons entered a resolution to <br />approve said application and it was seconded <br />with one abstr~tion, one aye and three noes. <br />Commissioner Hirst explained that he abstair <br />as he has recently become involved in a <br />fiduciary relationship with the shopping <br />center developer. Chairman Garrigan stated <br />that although he voted aye on this matter <br />previously, this question would again have <br />been brought to a tie vote had he again vote <br />aye, so to enable some decision to be made <br />tonight and to let this matter be appeal to <br />Council if the applicant desires, he voted <br />no. <br />- 3 - <br />
