Ayes:
Noes:
Mr. Castro reviewed the summary as submitted Absent:
by GSA. He found no objection with the Abstain:
proposal for Parcel Three except with regard
to (d) 539 acres by competitive bid sale or
exchange. Not knowing what final zoning
will be placed here, it is impossible to
know if the staff would object to the
ultimate uses.
The staff found no problems with regard to
the intended disposal of Parcel A-1.
Regarding Parcel A-2, the staff felt that
disposition to ZORE 7 should be subject to
the water management report prepared by
Brown and Caldwell. As for the possible
disposition for a hospital site, the staff
has expressed the feeling that this would
be totally incompatible with the present
general industrial zoning as well as what
may occur on the remaining property if it
is devoted to a water reclamation project.
Regarding Parcel A-4, the staff cited no
problems except to support the application
by the Valley Community Services District
for this acreage to be purchased as future
park land.
Commissioner Pereira remarked that his major
concern was the 539 acres. He further state
that he has contacted Congressman Waldie
regarfing using part of this property for a
National Cemetery as there is no longer any
available space within California's National
Cemeteries. He further felt that this type
of use would offer functional open space.
Commissioner Pereira proposed that we respon
to the GSA by encouraging them to work with
the Veterans Administration with this goal
in mind.
- 5 -
