gy~~sAN~oy CITY of PLEASANTON
~~ ~~%.
.~
~~° Planning Commission
~wrto t
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DG18 : March 28, 1972
Time : 8:00 P.M.
PIGCe; Pleasanton Justice Court
MATTERS FOR COM- Enforcement of non-conforming sign
MISSION'S REVIEW program for the Central Business
C.B.D. Signing District.
Program, Approved
Mr. Castro stated that the departmen
is addressing itself to two primary
areas, 1) Non-conforming signs, and
2) sign violations.
He further suggested that a deviation
from the ordinance be allowed as he
would like to see the applicants in
groups of five be invited to appear
before the Commission to hear their
testimony regarding specific problems
with the enforcement of this outline
and whether the proposed time-table
should not be applied as adopted.
He felt that this would be a more
equitable way of resolving the over-
all problem. It is a sensitive type
of enforcement and we should have as
much leeway as possible.
Motion:
Seconded:
Ayes:
Noes:
Abstain:
Absent:
With regard to sign violations, notic s
will be given before the matter is
turned over for legal action. Two
areas which need further direction
are A-board signs and window sign
violations. At this time, Mr. Castro
displayed some slides of the downtown
areas showing various types of sign
violations.
Chairman Carrigan expressed the feeli g
that the Director of Community Dev-
elopment present this signing program
to the Chamber of Commerce and, with
a liaison from the Chamber, an inform 1
contact could be made with merchants
informing them of certain violations
now being enforced by the City.
X
-8-
