4~~~s"N~~y CITY of PLEASANTON
'~/ . ~
4
~~~~t Planning Commission
~MMtO ~
MINUTES ~OF REGULAR MEETING.
DGte ; MaY 9, 1972
Time ; 8:25 PM
PIaCB; Pleasa nton Justice Court
Commissioner Wood expressed the feeling that!
he would not want to stand in the way of
industrial or commercial progress, but still
felt that service station approvals should
be taken individually (per Council's direc-
tive) and very slowly. Felt that the loca-
tion is a good one.
Commissioner Pereira spoke next. He indicat~
that there has been quite a period of time t
evaluate service stations. The Planning
Commission did decide as a matter of policy
that each application would have to be accept
and evaluated on a subjective fashion to
determine need and timing. In checking out
this site per the guidelines established, he
noted that there is nothing going north on
Hopyard to ~~580, without having somehow to
make a turn into the Shell station on West
Las Positas and Hopyard. This maneuver is
not always feasible.
Commissioner Hirst felt that with the full
improvement of Valley Avenue and no new
stations being added this location would be
a prime one. It is also located in a pre-
planned area. He felt this location is far
preferable to having a station at Black and
Hopyard or Black and Santa Rita.
Vice Chairman Pons disagreed with the opinioi
of the other Commissioners. He did not feel
the City needed another service station at
this time. His recommendation was for denia:
A resolution was then offered by Chairman
Pereira, seconded by Commissioner Wood to
reverse their previous denial and approve
UP-71-10. With the exception of a dissent
vote from Vice Chairman Pons, and an absen
vote from the Chairman, the other Commissi
supported this resolution.
d
rs
-6-
