M. <br />PIQCe; Pleasanton Justice Court <br />(1) There is no doubt in his mind tha <br />~ouncil is in opposition to Citizens <br />doing in in a shopping center. <br />(2) Regarding the issue itself, it is <br />true that Franklin Savings & Loan doe <br />not object to Citizens going in the <br />downtown area. In fact, it is absolu ely <br />essential to the preservation and <br />maintenance of the C.B.D. that Citize s <br />go downtown. Mr. Terry Hufft of the <br />Pleasanton Hotel asked that Mr. Schw <br />appeal to the Commission in his behal . <br />He indicated that if this application <br />is allowed, it will herald the start <br />of the deterioration of the downtown. <br />[r. Schwab further indicated that the <br />tate Savings and Loan Commissioner <br />oes not really feel that Pleasanton <br />s ready for a second savings and loa <br />ffice, but approved it anyway. He <br />tressed that Franklin Savings & Loan <br />ill be hurt if Citizens is allowed <br />n a shopping center. Mr. Schwab fel <br />hat this application is_premature. <br />r. Corley then stated that it was <br />Lear that Franklin just did not want <br />itizens in town. <br />r. Schwab stated that he did not say <br />n any way that Franklin intended or <br />recluded Citizen's entry into the <br />ommunity. It would give Citizens <br />n unfair advantage to locate in a <br />hopping center; that they would wel- <br />ome Citizens on the same basis in th <br />.B.D. as Franklin was welcomed. <br />. Schwab told the Commission that <br />e President of Franklin had talked <br />the State Commissioner, but since <br />. Schwab had not been apprised of <br />at conversation, he was reluctant to <br />-11- <br />
